Hay Delivery in Vermont, Right to Your Barn

If you've ever spent a February afternoon calling around Vermont trying to find a few more bales, you know how hard hay can be to track down. HayNow takes the hunting out of it. Order hay online, get it the next week, and let our driver set the pallets in place with the truck's forklift.

Where we deliver in Vermont

We deliver across Vermont, from the Champlain Valley around Burlington, South Burlington, Middlebury and Vergennes down to Rutland, Bennington and Manchester. We cover southern Vermont around Brattleboro and Putney, the Connecticut River towns near White River Junction and Windsor, central Vermont around Montpelier, Barre and Randolph, and up through Stowe, St. Albans and the Northeast Kingdom near St. Johnsbury and Newport. If your farm is in Chittenden, Addison, Rutland, Bennington, Windham, Windsor, Orange, Washington, Lamoille, Franklin, Caledonia or Orleans County, you can order online.

How ordering works

Pick your hay on our website, choose how many 18-bale pallets you want, and check out. We tell you your delivery week when you order. A couple of days before that week, you'll get your delivery day and a tracking link by email and text. You don't need to be there when we come. The driver takes a photo of your hay once it's dropped and sends it straight to you. Use the delivery notes if you want the pallets in a particular spot. We don't book set appointment times, but the tracking link keeps you in the loop.

Forklift delivery, no hand stacking

Our trucks carry their own forklifts, so there's no line of helpers needed. The driver places each pallet in your ground-level storage area, like a barn bay, a lean-to or a hay shed. We don't hand stack or bring elevators. Back roads in the hills can be tight, so if our tractor trailer can't make it up your road, we can meet you in town and load your truck or trailer, or drop at a neighbor's place with more room.

Our hay

We don't grow hay ourselves anymore. We buy it from growers across the US and Canada, haul it to our farm in Earlville, NY, and press the large bales into small bales of about 43 pounds. Each pallet holds 18 bales and is shrink-wrapped to keep it clean and dry. Choose from New York timothy-orchard grass (1st and 2nd cutting), Western timothy, Western straight orchard grass, Western steamed alfalfa, a timothy-orchard-alfalfa mix, or our SmartHay balanced pallet. Wheat straw is available for bedding too. Browse grass hay, alfalfa, hay mixes and SmartHay.

All of our hay is lab-tested

Every load of hay we sell is lab-tested. That means you know what you're feeding through a long Vermont winter, whether you keep a couple of backyard horses or a full boarding barn.

Vermont hay delivery FAQ

Do you deliver hay to the Northeast Kingdom?

Yes. We deliver throughout Vermont, including the Northeast Kingdom. If a road near you is too tight for our tractor trailer, we can meet you in a nearby town.

Can I get hay delivered in winter?

Yes. We deliver year-round. The shrink-wrap helps protect your pallets from snow and weather once they're dropped, and you'll get your delivery day and tracking link a couple of days ahead.

Is there a hay that works well for easy keepers?

Many Vermont owners like our New York 1st cut timothy-orchard grass as an everyday hay. Each product page lists details, and you can always ask us which hay fits your horses.

Do you take the pallets back?

No, we don't take pallets back. Plenty of folks use the wood for farm projects, or set them by the road where they tend to disappear fast.
